Dr. Ivan Lugo

Dr. Ivan LugoDr. Ivan Lugo, DMD, MBA, has extensive experience as an academic social entrepreneur, and a thought leader for designing strategic sustainable solutions to increase the health access, awareness and overall well-being of high risk populations. Prior to private practice and consulting, he held positions as faculty, Chair, and dean during his seventeen-year tenure at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry. his advocacy led to working with local, state, and national stakeholders to integrate Community-Based Dental Education service-learning programs into dental education curriculum. As Principal Investigator of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Pipeline, Profession and Practice grant, his efforts initiated several city-wide private-public partnerships and clinical access points in inner city Philadelphia and rural Pennsylvania; including the first school-based dental clinic in partnership with the Philadelphia School District. Dr. Lugo is past-president of the Hispanic Dental Association, and from 1996 to 2006, led the Philadelphia Department of Public Health Dental Division. He serves on the boards of the Academy of General Dentistry Foundation, Hispanic Dental Association Foundation (Vice-Chair), Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry, American Dental Assistants Association Foundation, Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, Pennsylvania Advisory Board of Health, NYC Oral Health Task Force, and the Shils Entrepreneurial Education Fund. Dr. Lugo has also been selected for fellowship of the American and International College of Dentistry.

In 2010, he joined the Professional Oral Health organization at The Procter & Gamble Co. where he led the North America and Puerto Rico Professional and Scientific Relations organization until 2015. He has spearheaded multiple private-public partnerships to inform company and national policy on consumer-based research initiatives utilizing evidence-based preventive programs to drive education, access to care and eliminate oral health disease through sustainable models that highlight the important role good oral health can play in achieving whole body wellness. In 2016, Dr. Lugo decided to focus on his next venture and started his own healthcare strategy and design company and is currently working with clients globally and enjoying learning the thriving international entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Dr. Lugo earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Syracuse University, a DMD from the University of Connecticut Health Sciences Center, and a MBA from the Temple University Fox School of Business in Philadelphia. He received his graduate certificate degree in consulting and coaching for change from Oxford University, in the UK and HEC Paris, where his training was grounded in the practical applications of harnessing the power of collaboration and innovation to bring about needed large systems design change in the U.S. Healthcare System.
